Why Keyboards and Controllers?

You know how PC gamers and console gamers can rarely agree on anything? It is going to be interesting to see how they work together when it comes to raising a child.

Mr B is a PC gamer. It’s hard to get him to sit down and play the PS3 with me. As for me, well I am KMGD (Keyboard & Mouse Gaming Disabled). I love my consoles and my handhelds, but I will play Guitar Hero on the PC or any game I can map the controls to a gamepad. (Mr B says this doesn’t count as PC gaming because I’m using a consoles method to play with.)
Anyhow, Mr B & I have been together for a few years now, and now creating our own little player 3 is on the books.
Before I decided to start this blog about choosing to become parents and our journey, the challenge was set.
Me- “You know, it’s going to be interesting to see who our kids take after when it comes to games and shit.”

Mr B- “I’m gonna train them up to be little PC geeks!”
Me- “No way man! I’m going to get them hooked on retro Nintendo and Sega then work my way up to the Sony and handhelds.”
Mr B- “Consoles are shit! You have much better controls and accuracy on PC!”
Me- “And how many awesome games have you missed out on due to them only being on a console.”
This same old PC vs console banter went on for a while until finally-
Mr B- “Well, we’re just going to have to wait and see whether it’s keyboards or controllers.”
Me- “They might surprise us and like keyboards and controllers. Well I’m going to smash it up on GTA V on my ‘shitty console’. Have fun going bowling with Niko.”
So yeah, that’s where Keyboards and Controllers comes from. With our kooky mix of crazy, tech, humour, zazz, geekiness, love, and all of those other things I can’t quite find words for, I think it suits us and our journey just fine.

(not) a parenting blog (yet)
